Background
A renowned boutique from India, known for its intricately designed custom wedding clothing, approached Reap Studio with a critical challenge:
"How can we let customers visualize an outfit before it’s stitched—especially when they aren’t physically present at the store?"
Indian clothing, especially wedding wear, involves detailed patterns, rich textures, and complex draping styles—elements that are difficult to simulate digitally. Existing virtual try-on tools in the market either lacked accuracy or simply didn’t work well with the unique characteristics of Indian garments.
Core problem
We saw this as more than just a technical challenge—it was an opportunity to revolutionize how Indian fashion businesses engage with customers online. The core goal was to build a virtual try-on platform that worked beautifully with Indian clothing and was intuitive enough for boutique owners and shoppers alike.
During development, two clear use cases emerged:
Boutiques & Custom Designers
Let customers see how a garment would look on them before it’s stitched—by uploading their photo and trying on custom designs virtually.Fashion E-Commerce Stores
Enable stores to generate stunning product visuals on a range of model poses and also let website visitors upload their photo to try on garments digitally.
The Approach for Reflaire
We set out to build a visually immersive, fast, and intuitive try-on experience that fashion brands could easily adopt. Our focus was to simplify the UX, optimize AI performance, and create a scalable design system that elevated brand perception while improving functionality.
Steps Taken
Smart Garment Mapping: We developed a custom AI pipeline that could handle complex Indian garments—like lehengas, sarees, and sherwanis—ensuring they drape naturally and preserve intricate design details.
Model Visual Generator: Fashion stores can now create high-quality, model-worn visuals of their garments without the need for photoshoots—cutting cost, time, and logistics.
Seamless User Experience: The try-on flow was built to work across devices with minimal friction. Whether it's a boutique owner uploading a new design or a customer trying on an outfit remotely, the experience feels smooth and professional.
